Day 6 Is Wrapped Up & Day 7 Is Underway

Posted by: dread    Tags:      Posted date:  October 8, 2009  |  3 Comments

We arrived at Chatham County YMCA around four yesterday afternoon and got showers. Then we split off into five groups and spoke to five different church groups in the area. Afterward, Doc and Deanna Cossio took all of us out to eat at Chedder’s.

It was late when we made it back to the Y… They were gracious enough to allow us to crash in their gym overnight. The AC was kicking and there was 0% chance of rain inside the building! We stretched out our sleeping bags and slept on the gym floor… heaven!

We were up early this morning. Once again, we split into groups… Drew and Mark went to speak at a local Rotary Sunrise meeting, Kyle, Sam and the boys went to Chic-fil-A for breakfast, and Eric went to Monkey Love Coffee Shop to upload videos and blog updates (he had an AMAZING Latte, complete with steamy milk!!! Delicious – if you are ever in Pooler, check it out!).

In other news… yesterday we met up with Tina, Edwin’s mom, for a little while as well as Jack and Janet, Christian’s uncle and aunt, who went to church with us and even ate with us afterward. And of course, Hoyt and Ruby are back and will be traveling back home with us today.

So today is the day… heading home. It’s been an amazing trip. We only have 100 miles to go: a full century on our last day! As Sam says, “Tally Ho!” Vidalia, here we come!

I’ve enjoyed the last few days riding on the bike and in the van with you guys. Jonathan you have showed to be a strong rider, just a little scary to be stuck behind. Christian you amazed me with your self-dicpline, that even though you were sore and tired you have never given up. Tripp your willingness to continue to help and serve your fellow bikers after a day of riding is incredible, some people would have been too tired but that hasent stopped you. Mark or should i say “Lemar” you have shinned on this trip after last nights meeting with your old church, I believe God has great things for you, You said to me that some of your old friends couldn’t believe you have changed and that it shocked them, well i think it shocked them so much that it may have given them a chance to look at Jesus in a wat that they’ve never seen Him before. Well, I hope you guys have a great last day and don’t get to hot. And Kyle im praying for your knee!!!
DAY 8 baby is just around the corner!!! Look forward to seeing you guys ride in our faithfull STEADS!!! lol

So much fun hanging out with you all on the road…going to church in Savannah and hearing Kyle and Christian speak…meeting all the parishoners who actually knew Paul Anderson was such a treat!!! Jack and I didn’t fully understand the magnitude of your journey until we saw you all on the road…all the long miles, having to navigate other cars, shelter, food, weather, mechanical problems with the bikes, traffic conditions…what an incredible adventure! You all should be so proud of yourselves and the accomplishment of arriving back home safely and finishing what you started…WE ARE IN AWE RIGHT NOW!!! See you all in a few weeks!!! GOD BLESS!!!
