Training for the bike ride was something that we most definitely underestimated. We thought that we could just hop on a Huffy, ride a few miles, enjoy the scenery, and have some good peaceful conversations. Instead, our expectations were replaced with burning thighs, buckets of sweat, and twelve year olds passing us by; not to mention, Drew’s singing as he passes us going up steep hills, while we struggle.
I would have to say that we all have a much greater appreciation for what it takes to complete a 500 mile bike ride. We have a long way to go before we start strokin’ up those North Georgia Mountains, but every day we ride we get better and faster. With only two wrecks and three flats, we’re doing pretty good, but time will tell where we stand.
