Day 5: To Thomaston

Day 5 was not the easy day we were led to believe it would be… It was hot and hilly. Lots of hills. Mucho. But the day went well with no spills or flats or whatnot. In addition, Sam taught some of us practical alternative uses for coffee cups. In a fascinating and educational display, he wowed us with his dual skills. One blogger lost a cup of coffee because of it, but anywho.

Last night we stayed in a beautiful old farm house out in the beautiful country side. A place that needs no cell signal… so I couldn’t update anything last night. But here we are! Back in the world of the internet.

Our special thanks for Day 5:

Bubba and Cindy once again provided us with breakfast and got our day started. Later on in the morning we met up with the Cawood Foundation. They gave us a tour and provided us with our second breakfast.

In the evening, Doug and Starla Riddick entertained us in their home with a delicious meal (prepared by Tyler Carpenter), swimming, and a great time with friends form the community. Thanks to Starla, Janet Minter, and Lewis Minter for organizing showers and such.

Here we are this morning at Mountain View Baptist Church, who fed us a hot, southern breakfast of biscuits, sausage, bacon, eggs, hashbrowns, fruit, doughnuts, coffee, milk and juice, about to get Day 6 started.

I’m so proud of all of you for your efforts! Thanks for the updates. I’ve been following along with you online. Here’s a shout out to Ben and Fritz from all of us in Peachtree Corners! We can’t wait to find out how this compares to Philmont!
Much love from the Edwards’ family XOXO
